Technology for being human
Tools that deepen our connection and understanding of the world we live in. Tools that stay in our pocket or on our desk so that we can actually live human lives.
Our mission
We believe technology has a problem. Most of it is designed to consume your attention, keeping you on a device rather than in the world.
We want to build for a different outcome. Tools that serve a mission of public good — and then get out of the way. Tools that help you do good things for yourself, for the people around you, and for your community.
We want you to exist in the real, physical world. Not a virtual one. We want you to see real, local people, places and things. Not feeds always meant to take you far away and stress you out over things you don't have.
We want to use technology to deepen and train your ability to observe, desire to act, and feeling of meaning. And then we want you to put the phone away and live your life.
The Work
Experiments in applied philosophy. Tools that serve an educational outcome — and then get out of the way. One of them is the harness we run ourselves; we build in the open about that too.
Live deliberately, even at the breaker box.
In production
Dance where you are.
Live
See what your groceries actually cost.
LiveRead the work, not the transcript.
In development
Your neighborhood is a quest. Go outside.
ConceptWhat we believe
That's not a bug in our product strategy. It's the whole point.
"To a hammer, everything is a nail. To an iPhone, every user is a ..."
Tools built with human values put first ask: what outcome serves us as individuals? What allows us to see our impacts, our values, the meaning in our days? What connects us to the people and the environment around us? And how do we build tools that do that and then get out of the way?
We're building for ourselves and our kids. Tools we want to use, not profit from and avoid.
We're building tools to give you the experiences that make you believe in yourself and the impact of your choices. We believe in you. Living a life you feel proud of is your human right.
